Sustainability

As part of one of the world's largest food and beverage companies, we at Kraft Food Ingredients believe we have more than a responsibility to be good global citizens; we have an opportunity. Each interaction with our customers and valued suppliers is another chance for us to help make the world a better place.

As consumers grow more environmentally conscious, manufacturers seek opportunities to engage in eco-friendly practices. We at Kraft Food Ingredients are helping manufacturers become "greener" by aggressively pursuing environmental sustainability ourselves. Through innovative policies, procedures and, ultimately, products that promote sustainability, we're working to create better business for you—and a better world for everyone.

To help prioritize our sustainability activities, we are focusing on six areas where we can have the greatest impact and that have the greatest impact on our business. Explore the wheel below to see what we are doing in each of the six areas.

Sustainability in Practice

  • Rainforest AllianceKraft is the largest buyer of coffee beans sourced from farms certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
  • Our cream cheese manufacturing plant in Lowville, NY, has reduced waste and produced renewable energy by converting by-product whey into cleaner-burning methane gas.
  • Our cheese plant in Springfield, MO, has implemented a whey project that allows for the recapture and reuse of waste streams.
  • Energy StarTo reduce our energy usage, Kraft facilities are switching to more efficient lighting and exploring the use of alternate energy sources, including solar power and wind power.
  • We are working together with customers to reduce the amount of corrugate used in our packaging.
